Position based on animated visible satellite imagery at 0530UTC and surface
observations. The LLCC is fully exposed with a small area of deep convection
west of the system centre maintaining against NE vertical wind shear. A partial
Ascat-B pass indicated winds 30-35kt in NE sector and 30 kt in SE sector, and
earlier ship reports confirm that near gale force winds extend into the western
and southern sectors. 0600 UTC Dvorak assessment is based on a shear pattern
with the well defined LLCC within 0.5deg of dense overcast yielding DT=2.5. MET
and PT agree.
