Latest observations and satellite imagery indicate that a depression has formed over southwest Arabian Sea and lay centred at 0830 hrs IST of today, the 17th December, 2016 near Latitude 11.0oN and Longitude 62.5oE, about 1110 km west of Amini Devi, 950 km east- southeast of Socotra (Yemen) and 1250 km east-southeast of Bereeda (Somalia). The system is very likely to move nearly westwards and is likely to intensify into a deep depression during next 24 hrs.
The system is moving away from Indian coast and not likely to affect Indian Region. Hence, no warning for Indian region.

The low pressure area over southeast Arabian Sea now lies as a well marked low pressure areaover central parts of south Arabian Sea. The associated upper air cyclonic circulation extends uptomid­tropospheric levels. It is likely to concentrate into a depression during next 48 hours.
