2018年2月28日至3月3日，颱風委員會將在越南河內舉辦第50屆會議。

2016年除名颱風的替補名入圍名單已初步公開，中國的海馬、柬埔寨的莎莉佳、寮國的納坦、馬來西亞的莫蘭蒂都有了替補名入圍名單。

菲律賓申請除名啟德、天秤，中國申請除名天鴿。

13.1 Replacement for Typhoon Names (agenda item 13.1)
13.1.1 The Committee noted China provided MULAN, FENGLING and TIANMA as replacement names for HAIMA.
13.1.2 The Committee noted Cambodia provided ROMPE, TRASES and KANTHEAY as replacement names for SARIKA.
13.1.3 The Committee noted Lao PDR provided HINNAMNOR, XEBANGFAI and DOKKHOUN as replacement names for NOCK-TEN.
13.1.4 The Committee noted Malaysia provided JATI, MERBAU and NYATOH as replacement names for MERANTI.
13.1.5 The Committee noted the request from the Philippines to retire the names of tropical cyclones KAI-TAK and TEMBIN request Hong Kong and Japan to provide replacement names.
3.1.6 The Committee noted the request from China to retire the name of tropical cyclone HATO and request Japan to provide replacement names.
