A low is developing along the monsoon trough near 10S 98E northeast of Cocos Islands. The low is expected to develop further on Thursday and Friday with an increased risk of becoming a tropical cyclone during Thursday and Friday. However, it should move towards the southeast over open waters away from Cocos Islands and not impact the islands. The system should then weaken over the weekend.
